About the school song writer/composer
She is currently busy with her level 3 theory and level 4 practical piano courses. She is part of her church’s spiritual dancing group, and also obtained national colours in acrobatics a couple of years back-a sport she unfortunately had to give up due to a full extra-mural programme. She also successfully completed a beginner’s course in modelling. Clearly a girl with many talents she recently (February 2011) won a trip to the United Nations headquarters In New York, USA as one of the two top prize winners of a competition ran by the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) in August 2010, coinciding with women’s month. It started with writing a piece on gender equality and what can be done to enhance the equality of women in society, which culminated in a mock UN debate at the DIRCO offices in Pretoria in front of a live audience, which included the Minister of DIRCO. On the school song, Chanté has this to say: “Composing this song has allowed me to build a relationship with John Walton, alias Mama Walton, emotionally. Creating an indescribable bond. A bond which only God has full control over.” |
